Project Truth 2021 —a complete success!

Last week, Project Truth, SPUC Scotland’s pro-life youth initiative, took to the streets after last year’s event was prevented, due to COVID-19. Project Truth reports that the 2021 Roadshow was a complete success.

Every year, the Project Truth team, involving young pro-lifers aged between 18-30, embark on a summer roadshow around the towns and cities of Scotland. They provide information about the development of life in the womb and discuss how abortion impacts unborn children, their mothers and wider society.

“I’d say this was one of my favourite Roadshows”, said Louise Grant, SPUC Director of Youth Development. “It was so refreshing to be out on the streets again for the first time since March 2020. Getting the opportunity to discuss the pro-life message with the public is invaluable.”

Louise noted that currently, it is “especially important” to talk about the Pills by Post scheme and other threats to women, such as Diana Johnson’s New Clause 55, which sought to legalise abortion on demand, even up to birth.

“Most of the people whom we discussed these topics with were absolutely appalled at how extreme they were and had never heard of them. We received many signatures against Pills by Post, even some from individuals who consider themselves pro-choice.”

Louise praised her team, which, though smaller and made up of mostly new members, was “very impressive and were naturals from day one…

“They are leaving the Roadshow experience more confident and better equipped to discuss the topic of abortion and promote the message of life, and with new lifelong friends.”

The team reflects on a hugely successful week

Monica (1st time taking part in Project Truth):

“Being able to connect with people in such a personal way – and in such a confiding approach, for them to be able to share their stories and journey – is an experience I’ll treasure. I am fortunate enough to listen to such an important and pivotal moment in people’s lives and who only want to be heard. To have such a constructive yet compassionate experience, I am truly grateful to Project Truth.”

Chloe (1st time taking part in Project Truth):

“Project Truth was a week full of joy, good food and even better company; a week when I stepped out of my comfort zone and confronted abortion directly. I enjoyed many productive conversations with the public, listening to their stories and sharing my own perspective. Overall, I think people were receptive to our message.

“Project Truth has taught me to be more compassionate to women who have had abortions themselves, and I hope those women are now aware of the help available to them in the form of organisations like ARCH. I look forward to taking part in Project Truth again in the future and would readily recommend the experience to any pro-life young person. Thanks to everyone involved – I miss you all already!”

Declan (4th time taking part in Project Truth):

“Again, it was great to meet so many people who agreed with us, and also to have rational, honest conversations with those who didn’t.”
