SPUC opens book of condolence for Sir David Amess MP

SPUC has opened an online book of condolence for Sir David Amess MP, giving supporters an opportunity to express their gratitude for his service to the unborn, and sympathy to his family.

Sir David, who was murdered during a constituency surgery in Southend-on-Sea, Essex on 15 October, is remembered as a stalwart pro-lifer who never ceased fighting for the right to life of the unborn.

Ahead of his funeral on 23 November, SPUC is asking its supporters to leave their messages of condolence so that they can be passed on to Sir David’s family.

A great friend to SPUC, Sir David was tireless in his efforts to protect unborn babies and support vulnerable women facing crisis pregnancies, working within Parliament to forward various pro-life initiatives.

SPUC’s Antonia Tully, Executive Director (Research and Education), who worked closely with Sir David on a number of pro-life political campaigns for many years, said: “I can remember Sir David as a young MP in the House of Commons. He was always willing to do whatever he could for SPUC, for example, tabling Parliamentary Questions on our behalf.

“During a long career as an MP, Sir David was a stalwart pro-life voter and never reneged on his deeply held views on abortion.”

Antonia is proud to be representing SPUC at Sir David’s funeral at Westminster Cathedral next week.
