Maison Des Champs, 22, known as the pro-life “Spiderman”, has been arrested after climbing a 50-floor skyscraper in Oklahoma City in the United States. His most recent climb is part of his ongoing protest against abortion.
Yesterday, on 14 June, Maison Des Champs, the pro-life “Spiderman”, climbed the 257m Devon Tower in Oklahoma City without ropes or safety gear. On reaching the top, he was arrested.
In May, Des Champs also scaled the 60-story Salesforce Tower in San Francisco, as reported by SPUC.
Des Champs is a university student, climber and pro-lifer who has turned climbing into a form of protest and fundraising. “I am a rock climber that has recently started climbing Skyscrapers to end abortion”, he states on his website.
“Truly the most special thing about this mission is being able to help others and save the lives of innocent babies”, he adds.
The young student seeks to raise money for “helping abortion-minded pregnant women who are in need of housing, medical care, food, or adoption services”.
The purpose of Des Champs’ climb yesterday was to raise money for a woman known as Riley, 10 weeks pregnant, who has ordered abortion pills that are due to arrive on Friday. Des Champs hopes that support will help change her mind.
SPUC comment
A SPUC spokesperson said: “Maison is a brave and good young man using his climbing talent to help mothers and their unborn babies, as well as protest abortion. His imaginative approach to pro-life activism puts pro-abortion protesters to shame.
“As we have seen recently in the US, pro-abortion militants have turned to violence, including firebombing pro-life offices and trying to assassinate a Supreme Court Justice, to uphold their violent abortion ideology.
“Maison, on the other hand, protests peacefully for a world free from the violence of abortion.”
