On 12 June, the Green Party published its Manifesto for the upcoming 2024 General Election, to be held on 4 July.

Below are the key takeaways from the Manifesto in matters relating to pro-life issues:

Abortion

The Green Party Manifesto makes no mention of abortion decriminalisation or buffer zones.

Assisted Suicide

The Manifesto pledges that “Elected Greens will support a change in the law to legalise assisted dying for people suffering from terminal disease who wish to avoid prolonged unnecessary suffering, if this is their clear and settled will. Proper safeguards would be put in place.”

Family Support

The Green Party pledges to:

“Increase Universal Credit and legacy benefits by £40 a week.”

“Abolish the two-child benefit cap, lifting 250,000 children out of poverty.”

“End the ‘bedroom tax’.”

SPUC General Election Tool – Value your Vote

SPUC has created an online tool to help supporters and British citizens contact their Parliamentary candidates and ask them how they intend to vote on abortion and assisted suicide. It is vital that pro-life people use their vote to elect pro-life MPs. Every vote matters.
