Planned Parenthood is conducting abortions in a car park outside the Democratic National Convention, where presidential nominee Kamala Harris has made abortion a central issue of her election campaign.
The Democratic National Convention (DNC) is currently being held in Chicago ahead of the US Election in November.
A mobile Planned Parenthood facility offering free abortions has been parked nearby the convention centre. Over two days, the caravan is expected to carry out between 20 and 30 abortions.
“We are here just providing health care”, claimed Dr Colleen Nicholas, one of the staff operating the facility in a car park.
Though Dr Nicholas claims their presence is not political, next to the caravan is a giant inflatable IUD called “Freeda Womb”.
Several pro-life activists held signs outside the car park including, “It’s not too late”, while others voiced their concerns about the caravan online, with one X user writing, “This is a cult.”
Harris has used the DNC to double down on her pro-abortion views; as Attorney General of California, Harris ordered a raid on pro-life journalist David Daleiden’s home after he exposed Planned Parenthood staff discussing the sale of organs harvested from aborted babies.
SPUC comment
A SPUC spokesperson said: “Kamala Harris’s close ties to Planned Parenthood are a warning sign to all Americans, signalling her extreme abortion views as well as her cynicism. Conducting abortions in a parking lot as a method of campaign is a new low.
“The Democratic Party has become the party of abortion in the United States. Since the reversal of Roe v. Wade in 2022, they have cynically turned to abortion as a potential vote winner, working with the abortion industry to achieve this.
“Some UK politicians have a similarly sinister relationship with the powerful abortion lobby, their main objective being the decriminalisation and total proliferation of abortion.
“Such politics are almost as ugly as abortion itself, and it’s up to us to stand up against this – not only for the sake of unborn children and their mothers, but also for a better politics.”
