Pro-life evangelical Christians “betrayed” by President Biden’s COVID relief bill that may fund abortion

The Pro-Life Evangelicals for Biden group has published an open letter stating that it feels “used and betrayed” by President Biden’s $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill that makes taxpayer money available for the funding of abortion.

The radical $1.9 trillion COVID-19 Relief Bill, which mandated taxpayer funding of abortion-on-demand, excluded the Hyde Amendment, a provision that bans the use of federal funding to pay for abortion, except in instances of rape and incest.

Following the passing of the Bill, pro-life Christians who supported President Biden and the Democrat Party in the November 2020 election say they have been “betrayed” by the Biden administration:

“We publicly supported President Biden's candidacy with the understanding that there would be engagement [with] us on the issue of abortion and particularly the Hyde Amendment…

“The Biden team wanted to talk to us during the campaign to gain our support, and we gave it on the condition there would be active dialogue and common-ground solutions on the issue of abortion. There has been no dialogue since the campaign.”

“Dishonourable but entirely predictable”

A SPUC spokesperson said: “President Biden’s ‘betrayal’ of his pro-life supporters is a dishonourable act, quite clearly, but also entirely predictable.

“The signs that Biden’s administration would be radically pro-abortion were clear before the November election, including his pick for vice-president, pro-abortion extremist Kamala Harris, as SPUC noted at the time.

“In October, SPUC’s Daniel Frampton stated that ‘the difference between the two presidential candidates’, Biden and President Trump, regarding abortion, ‘could not be starker’. Despite President Trump’s evident flaws, he was at least prepared to ‘fight in the trenches for unborn children and their mothers’.

“And there was, of course, a reason why abortion giants such as Planned Parenthood celebrated the November 2020 election result.

“The Democrat Party in the United States is the party of abortion. President Biden’s victory in November served to legitimate and embolden its pro-abortion position, which will only become more extreme, both at home and abroad, as is now being made horribly clear.”
