Tipping the balance in favour of life.
When Alexa found out that she was pregnant, she felt like her university career was over. It was hard enough to balance full-time employment and her studies – how could she be pregnant and a mum as well? She felt the world was crushing her and like she wanted to give up.
But then she heard about SPUC’s project, The Alma Mater Fund, which provides financial and emotional support for women who become pregnant at university. Statistically, women of this age are under the highest degrees of pressure to have an abortion. The Alma Mater fund offers them an alternative between abortion and dropping out of studies.
“Finding out there is support out there for mothers,” said Alexa. “gave me the strength needed to plan my path.”
For a student in crisis, The Alma Mater Fund can tip the balance in favour of life. It is a key way in which gifts in Wills can be used to save lives and have lasting benefit to the world.
Any gifts in Wills can make a difference – no matter the size. All of those who remember SPUC in their Wills are recorded in our memorial book, and remain close to SPUC’s heart.
Who gives gifts in Wills?
You don’t have to be wealthy to leave a gift. Every gift, of whatever size or type, will be used to make a practical difference in protecting unborn children and making abortion unthinkable.
Robert, a supporter from South-West London explained how he sees SPUC’s work and why he left us a gift in his Will:
“Our entire existence would be brief and devoid of meaning if we did not bring to life human beings capable of returning God’s love into eternity.
“Abortion is the opposite of this truth. This is why I am both pleased and thankful to be able to include SPUC in my Will.”
