Superman star says NY abortion bill “would make the crimes of Kermit Gosnell legal""

 â€‹Dean Cain as Superman.

"The worst thing I learned was what actually takes place during a late-term abortion."

Actor Dean Cain, best known for playing the role of Clark Kent/Superman in the TV series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, has spoken out about the extreme abortion bill passed last week in New York State.

Shocking new abortion law in New York

The actor, who also stars in and co-produced Gosnell: The Trial of America’s Biggest Serial Killer, said that the crimes of the notorious abortionist Kermit Gosnell would be legal under the new law.

Mr Cain appeared on "Fox and Friends" to discuss the Reproductive Health Act signed last week by Governor Andrew Cuomo, which enshrines abortion as a "fundamental right", removes protections from unborn children, and - in a move which has caused horror around the world - allows abortion up to birth in some cases.

Horrific late-term abortions

It is this allowing for late-term abortions which sparked the comparison with Gosnell. Dr. Kermit Gosnell was convicted in May of 2013 on three counts of murder for the death of three infant children and involuntary manslaughter of Karnamaya Mongar. However, it is believed that he killed thousands of viable babies in illegal late-term abortions, snipping their necks with scissors.

Mr Cain said that the worst thing he learnt while starring in the dramatisation of Irish husband-and-wife team Ann McElhinney and Phelim McAleer’s best-selling investigative book was learning "what actually takes place during a late-term abortion.

"I did not have any idea and I thought I was a pretty knowledgeable guy — and it’s gruesome, and it’s the kind of thing you’ll learn if you watch the film. We don’t show everything, but you understand what took place and there’s a huge emotional impact on the mothers — and you see that in the film."

The actor also described how Gosnell would induce births and then cut the baby's spinal cord with scissors. "But, that would be legal for New York law and what’s being proposed in Vermont," Mr Cain said. "They call it 'the health of the mother,' so it’s a really fungible thing to say, whether it’s emotional health or whatever it might be."

A story that needs telling

He said that the Gosnell film, which reached number 10 in the US box office after its opening weekend despite being largely ignored by the mainstream media, is only aiming to tell the story.

"I just encourage people to go watch the film, ‘Gosnell,’ and then make a decision," said Mr Cain. "I’m not telling anybody what to believe, we don’t do that in the film. But, we tell the story of Kermit Gosnell, and if you’re not affected by that — I don’t know.

"This is a man who had his own kids. He justified it as not seeing these children as children."
