MSP Liam McArthur (Scottish Liberal Democrat, Orkney) has lodged proposals for an Assisted Dying Scotland Members Bill. On 13th May, MSPs voted 70 to 56 in favour of the Bill. The bill will now progress to Stage 2 when MSPs can make amendments. A final debate and vote on the amended bill will then take place at Stage 3 at a future date.

We need just eight MSPs to switch their votes in order to defeat the Bill. It is therefore vital that we do all we can to lobby MSPs ahead of the next vote.

To that end, SPUC is holding a mass lobby of Holyrood on Tuesday 7 October.

What is a mass lobby?

A mass lobby is where lots of people go into Holyrood on the same day, to lobby their MSPs. SPUC staff will be on hand to help you. In Holyrood, you are represented by eight MSPs, so going into Parliament is an excellent way to speak to as many of them as you can.
