MSP Liam McArthur (Scottish Liberal Democrat, Orkney) has lodged proposals for an Assisted Dying Scotland Members Bill. On 13th May, MSPs voted 70 to 56 in favour of the Bill. The bill will now progress to Stage 2 when MSPs can make amendments. A final debate and vote on the amended bill will then take place at Stage 3 at a future date.

We need just eight MSPs to switch their votes in order to defeat the Bill. It is therefore vital that we do all we can to lobby MSPs ahead of the next vote.

To that end, SPUC is holding a mass lobby of Holyrood on Tuesday 7 October.

SPUC staff will be on hand on the day to advise you, but we are also holding a webinar a week before the mass lobby, in which we will talk you through the content of the bill, and give tips on how to lobby your MSPs. There will be much useful content even if you aren’t able to make the lobby!
