One particularly horrifying case of the pills by post system being abused was that of Norfolk man Stuart Worby. In December 2024, he was jailed for 12 years for giving his pregnant partner abortion pills (obtained by another woman using the policy) resulting in the death of her 15-week-old baby (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cje0p1dlzleo).

The law has only been changed for women, so men like Worby should technically still be prosecuted. However, if self-induced abortions are never investigated (as per the explanatory statement), it is difficult to see how a third party could be identified and charged in the case of coerced or forced abortion.
