Quarter of a million abortions in England and Wales in 2022, highest on record

Abortion surged by 17% in England and Wales in 2022, according to data disclosed by The Office for Health.

Following the release of abortion numbers for the second half of 2022, after a delay, the “shocking cost” of pills by post, says SPUC, has finally been revealed.

In 2022, medical abortion (drugs/pills) accounted for 86% of all abortions, up from 48% in 2012. Abortions taking place entirely at home increased by 9% between 2021 and 2022, amounting to 61% of all abortions.

Over ten million unborn babies have been killed by abortion since the passing of the 1967 Abortion Act.

Last year, SPUC supporters called on the Health Secretary to click here supported and exploited by abortion providers.

SPUC Comment

A SPUC spokesperson said: “Pro-abortion politicians should be ashamed of themselves for supporting the SPUC condemned as a “disgusting” hijacking that led us to this point: a quarter of a million aborted babies in twelve months.

“Yet there are still MPs who, despite such an appalling loss of life, continue to support decriminalisation.

“There is something profoundly wrong about a society that looks on with indifference at such numbers. All these thousands of lives had a right to life, a life stolen from them before they ever had a name.

“This is what the abortion industry wanted all along – the proliferation of abortion at all costs. In doing so, these idealogues, and the politicians that gave in to their demands, betrayed the women they purport to serve.

“The British public deserves to be made fully aware of the shocking reality of abortion, which kills hundreds of unborn babies every day at the abortion facility and inside the home.”
