A public high school in Virginia in the United States has been slammed for an ABCs display stating that “A is for Abortion” along with images of a pregnancy test and coat hanger.
West Springfield High School created the ABCs hallway display to mark Women’s History Month.
According to the school’s description of the project, the display is “celebrating and bringing awareness to what it means to be a young woman today at West Springfield High School and in the world”.
Another letter was “Li is for Leadership, featuring noted pro-abortion Democratic Party women, including Michelle Obama and Kamala Harris.
“N is for NOW” referenced the “fiercely” pro-abortion feminist group the National Organization for Women (NOW).
“Y is for Your Body” included the pro-abortion slogan, “My Body – My Choice.”
Speaking on Fox News, a mother of a boy who attends the high school said that another boy had “ripped down the ‘A is for Abortion’ sign. He was upset, and he was brought into the principal’s office, and they counseled him, and they said, ‘Well, you had such a visceral reaction to this,’ and I think that’s just absurd.
“I mean, how could you not have an emotive reaction to this, even if the adults do? So, I’m proud of the students who are stepping up and saying, ‘This isn’t right. This isn’t the kind of school we want to be in. This is indoctrination, it’s not education.’”
Pro-life activist Obianuju Ekeocha also slammed the “depraved” display:
Another user posted the following:
Attempting to justify the display, Dr. Michelle Reid, the superintendent of Fairfax County Public Schools, told Fox News that it was “an integral part of our educational experience for our soon-to-be graduating high school students.
“I see this student display as an example of student work that explores ideas and perspectives in a thoughtful manner and trust that this matter has been appropriately handled by school-based staff – who have my full confidence.”
But many Americans are not convinced:
