Kermit Gosnell, serial killer abortionist, dead at 85

Kermit Gosnell, one of the most prolific serial killers in US history, has died at the age of 85. A Pennsylvania Department of Corrections spokesperson confirmed that Gosnell died at a hospital outside the prison system on 1st March 2026. Gosnell was serving several life sentences for the first-degree murders of three babies delivered alive.

Many around the world first heard the name, Kermit Gosnell, back in 2013 when a Grand Jury released their findings after an investigation of Gosnell’s West Philadelphia abortion clinic. Despite the State of Pennsylvania receiving dozens of complaints about Gosnell’s clinic pertaining to its abortion practice, over the course of decades, the clinic was only raided in the end by the FBI because Gosnell was believed to be illegally selling prescription drugs. What they found inside his ‘house of horrors’ clinic was much more than simply evidence of the illegal sale of drugs: baby body parts kept in jars and freezers, and blood stains on the furniture.

When the case eventually came to trial, Kermit Gosnell was found guilty of 237 crimes, including, as mentioned, three counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of three babies, and involuntary manslaughter for the overdose death of a patient. Prosecutors alleged that Gosnell and his team’s unconventional late-term abortion procedure saw them induce labour and then snip the spinal cord of the babies born alive.

Working alongside Kermit Gosnell was his wife, Pearl, and a team of largely unqualified clinic workers, many of whom were also found guilty of crimes when the case came to trial. One such worker, is Adrienne Moton, who was charged with third-degree murder for snipping the spinal cord of ‘Baby D’. Moton spent two and a half years in jail for this and other crimes, before finding Abby Johnson’s And Then There Were None pro-life ministry for former abortion workers. Moton now spends much of her time sharing her story and her regrets that come with it, to audiences around the US. She also shared her story with SPUC TV back in February:

SPUC Comment

Commenting on the death of Kermit Gosnell, SPUC’s Communications Manager, Peter Kearney, said: “The case of Kermit Gosnell is one that is truly horrifying, and still induces chills when one reads all the grizzly details about what went on in his ‘house of horrors’ abortion clinic. Whilst Gosnell’s crimes are objectively evil, and it is right that he spent the latter part of his life behind bars, it is worth acknowledging the fact that unborn babies are killed in a similarly chilling manner elsewhere in the US and here in the UK. And yet because the babies killed are slightly younger, and the manner in which they are killed is slightly different, the abortionists who kill them go unpunished. The Gosnell case forced the general public to confront the theme of abortion, and this is perhaps why the case got nowhere near the coverage from the Media it deserved.”

Mr Kearney continued: “There is, however, some consolation we can take from this case. Adrienne Moton, whom we interviewed just recently on SPUC TV, is a shining example that pro-lifers are here to show compassion and forgiveness to everyone who asks for it. Despite assisting Gosnell in his ‘house of horrors’, Moton was rightly welcomed with open arms by And Then There Were None, when she sought help and healing. Let her story, not the evil legacy of Kermit Gosnell, be what comes to mind when we think about this case.”
