In a story that inspires hope, the world’s most premature baby ever recorded has now turned one. Born on July 5, 2024, at just 21 weeks gestation – 133 days ahead of schedule – little Nash Keen weighed a mere 10 ounces and was immediately admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit at the Stead Family Children’s Hospital in Iowa.

Despite doctors describing his chances as virtually nil, Nash fought on, spending six months in hospital before finally returning home in January. His resilience has captured hearts globally as a symbol of the preciousness and dignity of every human life, however small.

Nash’s mother, Mollie, described the long journey as one of “small victories,” explaining how she “took it one day at a time,” focusing on each milestone with gratitude. She shared that her son – initially expected to be fragile – is instead a “very determined, curious little boy” who simply loves to smile. Dad Randall said their little world‑record holder is not just surviving – but thriving – with pride in every step of his growth.

Nash’s story powerfully illustrates a fundamental principle: every life matters, regardless of size or stage of development. SPUC consistently affirms the inherent value of pre‑born human beings and opposes any laws or attitudes that treat vulnerable children as expendable.

The timing of Nash’s milestone is especially poignant. In June 2025, lawmakers in England and Wales backed proposals to allow abortion up to birth in cases of disability. SPUC urges peers in the House of Lords to block the measure before it radically undermines protections for unborn babies.

Nash’s story of survival stands in direct contrast to those policies. He was not a “clump of cells” – to borrow the rhetoric of some abortion advocates – but a real, unique human being from the start. His life defies the notion that viability or size determines human worth.

SPUC and other pro‑life voices point to stories like Nash’s as a wake‑up call: even the smallest fighters deserve legal protection and compassionate medical care, not legal termination. Nash’s first birthday is more than a celebration – it’s a testament to the power of love, perseverance, and the belief that every human being has an irreplaceable value.

As Nash turns one, his story challenges us all to affirm that life, at any stage, is worth protecting. If you would like to help defeat
