In another act of campus violence against pro-life students, a young male vandalised a Students for Life stall in the United States this week, accusing the women of “fascism”. The attack happened two weeks after Ben & Jerry’s called pro-life activism “white supremacy in action”.

Footage of the incident last Monday was posted by Kristan Hawkins, the president of Students for Life of America, on X:

“They continue to behave like this because there are NO CONSEQUENCES!” complained one user on X.

Pro-life women belonging to Students for Life had set up a stall at UNC Asheville, a liberal arts college in North Carolina. They were approached by a pro-abortion male student who attacked their table, throwing their leaflets on the ground, before walking away.

During the confrontation, the student verbally abused the female pro-life students and said they were “spreading propaganda” and “fascism”.

UNC officials are reportedly investigating the attack that was also referred to the police. So far, it is not known if any action has been taken against the student.

Alicia Foreman of Students for Life, who filmed the attack, said: “From the beginning, he started very angrily calling them names, and I tried to de-escalate him. He stated he supports abortion through all nine months for any reason as well.

“I asked him to leave because he was getting aggressive, and he did leave. He left, but then he came back not even five minutes later, even angrier. He was cussing at us and calling us ‘fascists’ and ‘misogynists’.” Conservative legal advocate Kristen Waggoner said the following on X:

The attack occurred exactly two weeks after Ben & Jerry’s celebrated National Abortion Provider Appreciation Day on 10 March. On its website, the ice cream brand accused the pro-life movement of perpetrating “violence and crime against providers and clinics”. Pro-life activism was also referred to as “white supremacy in action”.

In April 2023, Hawkins and another pro-life speaker had to be escorted out of a room for their own safety during a campus talk at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond after pro-abortion protestors broke into the venue. One pro-life activist was hurt during the aggressive intrusion.

In 2022, the pro-abortion militant group “Jane’s Revenge” threatened to “shoot up” a pro-life Catholic venue in Nebraska. Following the repeal of Roe v. Wade by the US Supreme Court that year, Jane’s Revenge declared “open season” on pro-life individuals and groups.

Smoke bombs were used to disrupt a pro-life student conference in Texas in 2022. And in 2021, a pro-life memorial created by Saint Louis University Students for Life was vandalised in Missouri.

UK pro-life students have also been subjected to abuse, attempted cancelation and even death threats in recent years.

In 2022, pro-abortion students with megaphones disrupted a talk by a female SPUC staff member at the University of Edinburgh. “Stop this talk right now”, the protestors shouted. “We are not allowing this to happen on our campus.”

In 2021, Exeter Students for Life received abuse, death threats and a petition calling for them to be disbanded. In the same year, a pro-life stall at Oxford University’s Freshers’ Fair was trashed by students in an incident similar to the one at UNC Asheville.
